Aug. 9
* 7:30 p.m. Astronomy Night at Rush Ranch, including a short presentation and outdoor viewing. Telescopes provided.

Aug. 11
* Noon to 4 p.m. Volunteer and learn about phenology, the study of seasonal changes in plants and animals from year to year, in various locations. No experience is necessary. Registration is required by contacting or (530) 514-1773.

Aug. 16
* 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteer on Citizen Science Friday at various locations. No experience is necessary, but registration is required by contacting, or calling 432-0150, extension 207.

Aug. 17
* 8:30 a.m. Third annual Aim for Ag & Open Space: Sporting Clay Shoot and Luncheon at the Birds Landing. Free beginner's clinic, and $75 for 50 targets and $110 for 100 targets, excluding shotgun rental and ammo. Lunch only without the shoot is $15. Registration is required through the "Events Calendar" at or 432-0150, extension 0.
* 8:30 a.m. to noon. Mid-summer hike at Rockville Trails Preserve with docents Richard and Cathy Christo. Registration is require through the "Events Calendar" at or call Cathy Christo at 745-1913.
* 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get the Rush at Rush Ranch offers a series of free activities designed for all ages, including a guided walk, blacksmith demonstrations, and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Wednesday August 7th, 4:00pm – Ribbon Cutting & Celebration
Live music, VCAF Children’s Art Display, Food & Fun. Continue the celebration at the Wednesday Night Ramble to follow at the Empress Theatre with guest performer, Lady Bianca’s Birthday Bash. The downtown Arts & Entertainment District. Support a new vibrant downtown.

To coincide with the grand opening of the Temple Art Lofts, Sophia Othman will host a Community Art Mosaic Project. Participate in this fun mosaic in progress at her studio -- Noor Creations Mosaic Studio, 723 Marin Street, Vallejo. This is an impromptu opportunity to place a few tiles onto a group mosaic art piece, no prior experience needed, all welcome.

This group mosaic project event will continue on Wednesday August 7th during the Ribbon Cutting Celebration of the renovation of Virginia and Marin Streets in historic downtown Vallejo, from 4pm-8pm.

In August 2013 Poetry By The Bay will be celebrating our five year anniversary! Please mark your calendars and spread the word! This is a perfect time to say the famous catch phrase "time flies when you're having fun". We aim to make our five year anniversary celebration a memorable one to thank you for being a part of our growth and for your constant support. We've grown so much as artists and as a community over the past five years. We've seen several of you develop, improve and shine by just being yourselves. We want Poetry By The Bay to grow with you. Stay posted for upcoming changes that will offer you the opportunity to grow even more!!
